Scandal and Yellowstone

Ok fair warning, I have only seen the pilot for Scandal and Yellowstone but from my minimal viewing I think they have the same set up and same basic premise but different context/location.

For example these parallel characters.

Olivia Pope/John Dutton - Powerful leader, has all the answers, makes all the decisions. Is largely unquestioned.

Huck/Rip Wheeler - Hitman, super loyal but no conscious. This character is the reason I cannot watch either show. I have no stomach for the violence.

Quinn Perkins/Kayce Dutton - audience in, new (or like Kayce a return) to the core group.

Julie and the Phantoms

First

I'm obsessed. Love the music and the show.

Some questions
- is it coincident that Julie's mom (Rose) bought the boy's old studio? How did her band do when she was young? Was she inspired by Sunset Curve

Observations
-hating Alex's forced gayness. I like Alex except things like always dressing him in pink, saying that he cries too much or having him dance with the girls. I want Reggie up there dancing and owning it.

I do like his flirtation with Willy. They pull that off in a way that feels natural.

My favorite is Max from Happy Endings. He is natural about his sexuality without feeling forced. He makes jokes and hooks up but isn't stereotypical.

-still weird having Luke and Julie flirt when Charlie Gillespie (Luke) is clearly older than her

Hoping for season 2
-I want Sunset Curve flashbacks. I want Rose flashbacks as an adult when they buy the house and her carefully putting all the boys instruments in the attic. I want Bobby to have courted Rose, like a lot and for Julie's dad to hate Bobby too. I want Rose to break up with Bobby for releasing My Name is Luke under his name.
I want Flynn to shut up and sit down and play her role for exposition and support and stop whinning.
I want Caleb to have something more than just scare tactics
I want Reggie to have been dying anyway so when he dies suddenly it was a relief to him because he know his cancer would bankrupt his parents. This one might be too heavy

Madam Secretary - a spin off I would love

I fell in love with Madam Secretary because of my mom, who also loves the show.  I'm in pretty deep now.

I'm was so sad to learn that Madam Secretary is ending after season 6, and that season 6 will be a limited run

https://tvline.com/2019/05/15/madam-secretary-final-season-6-cancelled-cbs/

Anyone who is keeping up with the show understands that Elizabeth McCord (Madam Secretary) is moving on to other things and it wouldn't make much sense if she's back to being Professor McCord or hopefully President McCord!!

so moving on, I'm sure the show will end in a lovely and final way but I'm gunning for a spin off based on . . . .

He is such an untapped source of humor, and ruthless political moves.

I would love to know about his backstory

- how bad was the divorce that he no longer felt her could run for office?

- Where did he get Gordon?  Where did they get the name?  Why joint custody of the dog with his ex-wife, they must have gotten him together I guess.

- previous love interest

- academic history, practicing law (I loved when he killed in the courtroom

- HIS SON

and moving forward!! Who is he couch sitting for now!?!?

PLL Spencer's Alex

I can't help it. Every time I see Alex. The main character Spencer's boyfriend.

I see Orlando Seale (Pride and Prejudice 2003: Pink Bible, Everything you want and an episode of Reign)

I think it's how sweet they both are screen and in every part I have seen Orlando in he is a lot like Alex, kind and very supportive of his woman.

Pretty Little Liars

My first impression is that it is a rip off of Wysteria lane. It's more Desperate Housewives than I'm sure fans would like to admit. It also reminds me that all dramas seam to center around High School or an Office. DH is actually impressive that they can use a neighborhood. Even sitcoms struggle to keep their characters together having everyone meet up at the McClaren's or The Central Perk.

I like the opening credits, the title song is just creepy enough and very catchy. When watching the Pilot and seeing Aria shush the camera I thought "oh that's cool, the girl that shush in the opening will be the center of that episode" sadly this just strengthens Aria as the frontrunner. . .sad I think I like Spencer best.

Don'the look up the ages of the actors. It's cray-cray ;)

That 70's Show

"Hanging Out
Down the Street
The Same Old Thing
We did Last Week!"

For the first month of my new baby's life her lullaby was the theme song to this classic show.  My husband and I teased and would sing it to her when we put her to sleep.  It didn't really "work" in that she would fall asleep but we enjoyed it.

I love this show because you can easily watch episodes out of order and still laugh and catch on with what is going on.  I particularly love the pilot and the finale.  The finale is perfect and closes that decade perfectly.  I especially appreciate that they got Topher Grace (Eric Foreman) back for the last episode.  The gang is definitely in my 'I'm bored' rotation.  I usually get bored around the last season so I can't be sure I've seen every episode but probably about 90%.

"Not a thing to do
but talk to you
we're all alright
we're all alright"

TV Review Prologue

I gave birth to my first baby in October and always heard to have books and movies on hand because you have a lot of time to kill.  I thought that applied to the hospital and while that might apply to other mothers, it was not true for me.  I was in the hospital for about 12 hours before I met my daughter but I was never bored.  This could have been because it was my first baby and I was constantly talking to my husband or Mom or the nurses asking questions.

Long story-short, I found myself watching the most TV after she was born.  I turn on netflix in the middle of the night, while I'm nursing, when I'm exhausted but can't sleep because shes's awake or because I just want to hold my little girl.  The following posts are my thoughts after binge watching shows on Netflix.
