Crazy Ex Girlfriend

Why I love Crazy Ex.

Rebecca is a women's advocate.

No matter what problems she has on her own plate she is 100% tapped in to preserving, nurturing and encouraging female friendships.  The best way this is shown is when Rebecca befriend's her romantic rival Valencia.  It seems manipulative at first but she has always given Valencia credit where credit is due and then when they were both the 'ex girlfriend' she fought in a genuine way to make and keep her friends.

Meet Cute

Her walk was halted as she left her office.  Helen looked back several times to make sure her desk was clean and she hadn't forgotten or left something important out on her desk. Even though she always locked the door, she did share the space with a few other employees and she always worried.

Helen was just always a little nervous when leaving.  As she walked through out to the hallway.  Helen went to lock the door that connected the office suite to the health club where she worked.  She was a little bit sad today but she dismissed the feeling as just being run down. She grabbed the door handle and inserted her key.  When the door moved toward her Helen jumped a little startled as a large man came through the door abruptly.  Helen was just about to tell him she needed to lock the door when with the giant grin of a child he cut her off as he said.  "Oh hey, sorry I'm new to the gym, what is this?"  His eyes took in the little white washed hallway with one framed picture of a flower that a coworker had brought from home.

Helen said "this is an office space, it's not part of the gym, I'm actually just locking up" she gestured with the keys in her hand.

The stranger, not understanding that he shouldn't be there, saying "Wait, what is up here?  I saw offices downstairs, what are these for?"

Helen said "just accounting and human resources, it's only a couple people." The only other door in the hall was glass and clearly lead to the parking lot.

Helen normally joked that the most important people were tucked away from the rest of the staff but she was tired and just wanted him to leave.  He, again, was not getting it, he crossed the empty hall to the office door she had already locked and pulled.  "So, no one is here?" he said.

"No, I'm leaving too" said Helen and she started to get a little nervous.  Plenty of people would hear here if there was a problem but this was not this guys first time in a gym, at least 6 feet tall with wide shoulders and since he did not seem to pick up on her eagerness to leave she sensed he might just be dim enough to be trouble.

"oh ok" he said and headed back through the door and into the gym, just as Helen started to shut the door the stranger whipped around and asked "So it's a good gym?"
Again, startled she fumbled saying "yeah it's good"  A shy smile and blush came over the tall man, who suddenly looked like a child.  "Ok, yeah I guess I'll see you around".

Helen, now feeling on the spot, shut the door in his face, put the key in deadbolt, locked the door and left down the hall and exited the building.

The Finder - lost but forgotten

So glad Netflix has this show on tap because The Finder is excellent in the sense that the viewer is just off base or unsettled enough to keep watching (or at least that was my experience). I found myself constantly trying to think of a way to fix the characters to improve the show.

The premise is great - that's why I started it of course. I envisioned a 'backwater Sherlock Holmes'.  My favorite is the gypsy girl, I think gypsy culture is enough secretive that I just loved learning about her and her betrothal.  I think this show could have found a following if only it was better managed.

Why I love Meg Cabot's characters

Meg Cabot is like novel junk tv for me.  I absolutely love it and read/listen to almost all her books multiple times.  I don't care how old I am I will always enjoy listening to Mia Thermopolis and her struggles as she gets through Albert Einstein High School and becomes the POG she was born to be.

I am currently listening to Queen of Babble and yes she's amazing.  I need to listen to the Heather Wells series again.  I'm dying to know if that no good cheating Luke that Lizzie Nichols loves is off gallivanting with college kids at New York College and Heather Wells mentions it :).  I think by far Mia and Michael are the best couple but right after is Heather Wells, she is extremely well rounded and thoughtful even with her flaws and struggles she always does the best she can.

I loved Avalon High, the book NOT the movie, sorry Disney you screwed up the ending.  The point was that she WASN'T the hero of that story, and that's ok.  It's ok to be a supporting character some times!!!  But that moral is lost on Hollywood I'm sure.

Charmed

Reasons why I love Charmed.

A. There series finale is so perfect and fitting and feels just right that I regularly look back and watch just that episode.
B. I am impressed they killed off Prue. I think that takes guts.
C. I always like Piper best and she is the main character.
D. Even when special effects are corny they actors keep it going strong.
E. I really enjoyed watching the sisters grow but still seeing old insecurities flare up. It's speaks true.

Unrelated thoughts

It's probably due to blogs, tweets and posts that have affect me to think every coherent thought I think is worth be read by someone else. This trait might be genetic. My parents are eloquent, thoughtful writers. My husband enjoy getting a laugh out of an overly descriptive phrase or a thesaurus abuse paragraph written by my mom or dad but from this entry I am proof that this writing choice might be genetic, just know I am self aware.
